Mountain climbing, interrupted by bad weather

Circumstance had kept the Waltzes from revisiting the universe they'd more or less claimed as a playground. Kitty had needed proper taming, and then they'd had their summer molt and were in no mood for adventuring. There had been harvest time, and many other things. But now they were finally back on their way.

They'd stopped to see the Dwarves in the mountain Hall again, and were given the weapons they'd been promised. Blaze and Mistral were a little uneasy to see what Arashi had requested. The third Waltzlet had kept the design sketches he'd handed over a secret at the time. The resulting staff weapon was a near-twin of the one once used by Black Waltz Three.

They'd stayed for dinner, and for news. The dwarves were a little uneasy around Kitty, despite that the displacer beast behaved herself. She didn't even try to eat any of the giant rats the dwarves had taken to walking on leashes as if they were guard dogs.

There were mentions of supplies and news from the mining village to the east of the mountains suddenly being cut off. Several dwarves suspected the pass might have been closed due to landslide. Other than that, there was very little of interest. Most of the goblins and hobgoblins seemed to have left the area since the Waltzes had been around. Rather than be utterly bored, the trio decided to head up the mountain pass and see if it really is blocked. If it is, at least they can tell the Dwarves. And if it isn't, maybe there's something up there they can fight...

The sky had looked clear enough when they'd left, but had rapidly darkened as they neared what looked to be the remains of an old abandoned tower. Arashi rather likes storms, but this high up in the mountains the wind poses a real danger to Waltzlets - they don't really weigh all that much, after all...

A Study of the Fauna of Termina [For kasumu_sekai]

The next time the younger Rydia sees the little Black Mages, they may seem a bit more prepared for a trip. At least judging from the new little grade-school-type backpacks they're sporting. Blaze had picked those up for them at the Nexus Mall, being of the opinion that visiting other worlds was a great opportunity to pick up Shiny Things and that it might help to have something to carry them in. He couldn't use a backpack himself, what with the wings, but he has no doubts about their usefulness.

Gaia's Ice Cavern... [RP w/kasumu_sekai]

The dripping sounds and occasional gurgle of running water are more noticeable inside the Ice Cavern. A few patches of bare rock show through, but in most places the ice is still thick. The water and slush make the floor even more slippery than solidly frozen ice would be, as the Magelets soon find out. They seem to find it fun, though, not bothered at all by the cold as they look around.

Mistral looks around as well. He can see the place falling apart with the underlying magic gone, making it look changed and somewhat unfamiliar - but not as unfamiliar as it should be for someone who's never been inside it. He knows the way through, if none of the paths have been blocked by the thaw. And if they had, ice spells should let them make a way around.

Off on another adventure...

Arashi was not a happy Waltz. Old Aaron at the general store had told him the usual caravan bringing supplies for trade into Sarwin was late. Which meant there still wasn't a way to send the draft sketches of the weapon Arashi wanted to custom order off to be made. The Waltz is tempted to just fly out, find the dwarves, and deliver it himself.

They're in the common room of the Hawk and Mouse, the combination Inn and Tavern they usually stay in. Others aren't too happy either, as no caravan means the shipment of ale is late too.

On their way...

As soon as they return to the universe they've been frequenting, Arashi takes to the air to check some details against the maps he'd been looking over during lunch. Waltzes, like Mages, have poor visual acuity when it comes to documents, but can focus easier on moving things - like terrain below when flying.

The others, on the wagon-rutted road just outside of Sarwin, wait for a moment and adjust their belongings.

The road to Sarwin...

This is obviously not a post-industrial world. In fact, they shouldn't feel too out of place here. The randomly selected portal from the Nexus will set them down in a field not too far from a dirt road that bears the markings of wagon wheels. The surrounding area is lightly forested with deciduous trees in a colorful autumn display of foliage. The road itself curves slightly and goes over a slight bit of a hill up ahead. If one looks closely at the horizon, to the right and visible through the trees are the not-too-distant tops of some large keep or castle.

a vacation fom travelling, and unexpected company

It's been about ten days since any of the Mages, Waltzes, Mikoto, or Rydia have heard from the older Kuja. Or his missing younger alt. For the most part, they figure the older one can take care of himself.

Mistral's making use of the time by taming and socializing his newly acquired baby dodongo. Everyone else just goes about business as usual, though with some discussions about whether Rydia and the Waltzes should continue world-hopping on their own while they wait to see if either Kuja shows up again.

Black Mage Village RP Thread :)

Another normal still-wintery day in the Village. At least Arashi's mood has been marginally better now that he knows his 'pet' isn't dead.

Which means all three Waltzes are back to perching in a group - for now on top of the bakery again. Mostly because it's warm there, but also because Mr. 44 just finished a batch of cookies and they're eating some.

The Last Day Of The LOL (THNMY to the Sept. 16)

Somewhere in the Nexus is a very irritated Mistral. Where the other two are at the moment is anyone's guess, though 'off flying' would be a good one.

The shortest Waltz has been venting his frustration - and his overloaded magical energies - by making giant ice blocks again. He's got a small fort built by now. Seriously. It's like frozen giant lego fun.

He's sitting on a block of ice outside the door, toying with his bell again.

[Old Retcon/Redo] Stupid tempermental siblings...

[This is a redo of the thread in this Sages post that had the AU!Kuja in it, in order to remove the other mun's chara and fix timeline holes.]

Three Waltzes approach the sign. The two taller ones are arguing. To those familiar with the game, they look like One, Two, and Three... but a few things are just a bit off. 'Three' is missing his staff and the stitching on his hat, but otherwise looks the same. 'Two' lacks horns on his hat, and there are applique flames decorating his dress robe. The edge of the outfit isn't tattered, but he's cast float on himself anyway. 'One' is the most different... he's not hunchbacked, and his wings and his clothing aren't as tattered. On top of that, his coat is blue with little snowflakes embroidered on the pockets, and he's wearing white pants. He also looks like the other two are giving him a headache.

"Well, what are we supposed to do now?" 'Two' snaps at 'Three'.

"If you hadn't caused this, we could go have dinner. Instead, you'd better hope someone here knows how to fix this mess!"

"I caused this?!? You wanted to go swimming just as much as I did."

"Both of you, stop it," 'One' rubs at his head and glares up at the other two.

"Stay out of this, runt," 'Three' warns.

'Two' snickers. "Yeah, the big Waltzes are talking."

Ok, that did it. 'One' glares at the other two and mutters to himself. The air gets colder, and in a split second a large hollow cube of ice forms around the other two Waltzes. While they're sealed inside, any sounds muffled by the thick ice, 'One' sighs and addresses the rest of the Nexus. "Suggestions for things to do with a pair of siblings that won't stop squabbling?"
