Black Mage Village RP Thread :)

Another normal still-wintery day in the Village. At least Arashi's mood has been marginally better now that he knows his 'pet' isn't dead.

Which means all three Waltzes are back to perching in a group - for now on top of the bakery again. Mostly because it's warm there, but also because Mr. 44 just finished a batch of cookies and they're eating some.

He'll heal Mistral and the Sealion, then. Why not~?

"And I can always take any of you back, if you feel like it."

Shaking of pointy-hatted little heads at that. "I don't wanna go back," whines Blaze, still poking the dead Axe Beak with a stick.

"I don't either," says Mistral. "I just couldn't let Sealion be hurt." And he snuggles Sealion for a moment and pats some scales - those few he can actually reach. Then he giggles and bounces over to grab the dead Axe Beak by the beak.

"Hey," Blaze starts to protest when the littler Waltz starts dragging the dead monster away. And then he gets more interested in watching what Mistral is going to do with it.

After a little tugging and only managing to pull the thing a few inches, Mistral casts float on it. And then happily takes it over to feed to the Sealion.

It's a monster eat monster world sometimes. And Sealion has no table manners to speak of, skewering the Axe Beak on a claw and eating it like some really ugly shish-kabob.

Not something he wants to watch, but he won't stop it.

And now he's looking for something new...

Neither do the other two Waltzes. Luckily, they're spared most of the sight. Sealion vanishes again taking its dinner with it.

And found! Another of the same type of monster. Hopefully the Waltzes aren't getting suspicious, because it'll be running up in a moment~

This time they're not going to give it a chance to attack first. There's a Blizzard, Fire, and Thunder spell - one from each Waltz - heading towards it almost as soon as they see it.

And Kuja lightens up on his control of the thing, just enough so it can see the spells and... start running away!

No reason he can't let the Waltzes chase it. He can find them later.

And two of them do chase - or rather fly - after the fleeing monster. Mistral doesn't seem to have much interest in doing so, so long as it's not attacking him.

The little dinosaur is heading for the pond!

It can probably outrun the Waltzlets, but can it outrun a Fire and a Thunder spell?

Mistral, still staying where he is, just grumbles to himself. "Why do they hafta chase it anyway? It's not bothering us now. It just wants to get away." Secretly, he hopes it does... he has a soft spot for monsters not trying to kill him.

Nope! D:

It's not dead, but no longer running, too tired for that.

And Mistral's seen enough. The other Waltzes have to suddenly do a lot of flapping to keep from crashing into a wall of ice keeping them from reaching the monster.

"Hey!" Blaze protests. No fair!

Mistral, meanwhile, flutters over to the injured monster, staying just out of biting range and ringing his bell...

And Arashi? He glares at the wall that's suddenly in his way, flinging a thunder spell at the ice. Not that that's all that effective, except to shatter the top part of the wall and send big chunks of ice showering down. Mistral squawks as one of the chunks of ice hits him and knocks him down.

The monster tries to snap at Mistral anyway, hissing and growling. Angry little thing.

And Kuja will be following Mistral now, just in case this starts going wrong.

Things almost did! But luckily Mistral didn't lose his grip on his bell when he was hit by that chunk of ice - though it's a safe bet that's going to leave one heck of an unseen bruise somewhere. Ring, ring, ring goes the bell - not actually summoning this time, but in attempt to control and calm the monster.

Meanwhile the other two Waltzes have started fighting each other due to being suddenly deprived of their intended target. Blaze had almost been hit by a chunk of ice too, and that had been enough to make him yell and complain and draw the attention of Arashi's temper. Luckily, the two have retained enough control to not be using spells on each other, but there is a little bit of a fistfight with occasional feather-pulling over there.

For a moment, it might seem like the monster is being controlled by someone else, if Mistral can tell. Kuja hadn't completely given up on it, but now he does, letting Mistral have it!

And to the other two Waltzes, "Stop that."

And stop they do, immediately sitting down and grumbling.

"We shouldn't have brought Mistral," Blaze complains. "Now he'll wanna keep it!"

Mistral sense something, but doesn't recognize it. And since it's gone a second later he doesn't pay any attention. He's got the monster now, and can make it be calm while he checks its injuries and pets it. Poor little monster~

Nodding. "Keeping it isn't a good idea." Hopefully he can talk the Waltz out of it.

But before he says anything, he wants to be sure the Waltz wants to in the first place.

Given that Mistral is hugging the monster, convincing him not to make a pet of it isn't looking good. He gives the other two Waltzes a glare. "You shouldn't have chased it when it wanted to get away! It wasn't hurting us, and I don't think it really meant to attack us. I think it's just hungry. And now it's hurt too! Why don't you do something useful and try to find it some fish?"

"I'm not going to go try to catch fish for your new pet, Mistral!" complains Blaze.

"Could fix it being hungry with another thunder spell," mutters Arashi.

What a mess. :(

He'll go ahead and heal the monster, silly as it seems. And then, "Send it away and it can find it's own food."

Surprisingly, once the monster is all better Mistral does not put up too much argument about letting it go. He just gives it one more cuddle and then shoos it carefully towards the water.

Lucky them!

"I think that's enough for now, don't you?"

Blaze nods. "I'm hungry!"

"And I want to check on Sealion," adds Mistral.

Arashi just nods and then glares at the smallest Waltz. Next time, they shouldn't bring Mistral. How dare he get in the way when they were chasing something?

He nods, and pulls out the PINPoint again~.
