Another normal still-wintery day in the Village. At least Arashi's mood has been marginally better now that he knows his 'pet' isn't dead.

Which means all three Waltzes are back to perching in a group - for now on top of the bakery again. Mostly because it's warm there, but also because Mr. 44 just finished a batch of cookies and they're eating some.

Hint of amusement at their reactions! "Yes. If they show up... and if they try to attack. Some are harmless, and don't need to be killed."

"But I can use my bell on those?" Mistral asks hopefully.

Blaze just droops a bit. "So, there might not be any..."

"Maybe we could spot some from the air," says Arashi.

"You can do whatever you want to them."

And since he doesn't want them flying off... here comes the spider now! It might seem like an odd coincidence, but hopefully they won't think on it too much.

Hey, they wouldn't care if they did figure out he called it over. Well, Mistral might just a little, it's rude to summon things and then kill them. After all, they were perfectly willing to go chase down the monsters and attack them instead of letting things happen the other way around.

Blaze pops out of the way of the spider, vanishing to reappear in the air some ten meters or so above it and fling a fire spell at it.

Arashi quickly adds a thunder spell to that, while the ground around Mistral starts to frost over and he retrieves his bell from his pocket.

The spider doesn't do anything other than try to stab at the Waltzes on the ground, using those two huge spearlike legs~.

And Kuja will watch! They seem to be handling it.

The two Waltzes still on the ground dodge - barely, in Mistral's case with it coming within a half inch of snagging the littlest Waltz's jacket - and then take to the air like Blaze did. Death from above, spider! Bwahahaha!

Or, once Mistral's regained his concentration, a rather nice Blizzaga.

The spider is very weak, and not able to last long. After Mistral's blizzard... well, that's it for the poor thing.

And he's just watching until they're finished~

That's it? The Waltzlets almost seem a bit disappointed. Arashi casts thunder on the dead spider just to see if it's faking or going to get back up. When it doesn't, the Waltzes land. Blaze finds a stick to poke the dead spider with.

Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

That's it! Faster than he expected. And he moves closer to it, watching them. "Mmm... perhaps we need to go somewhere else."

Blaze looks up but doesn't stop poking. Poke, poke, poke. "Some place with no big spiders?"

Arashi looks around. "I don't see any more of them here, and this one's no fun any more."

"Do you think it was poisonous?" Mistral asks curiously.

Arashi snerks. "It doesn't matter now if it was."

"Some place with ones that would make better practice." That didn't even take ten minutes.

"And I'm not sure."

That gets their attention away from poking at the dead spider.

"Ok!" all three say. Seriously, where's something else they can kill?

Thinking for a moment. "I think I know somewhere better. We'll have to PINPoint again." Hugging time now~?

And off they go! Reappearing in... another empty looking field, this time near a pond.

And he 'looks' around, for something new to kill... there!

He'll call it soon, but not yet. Would be suspicious.

Mistral wonders if the water has any big monsters or just little fishes. Sealion likes water monsters for food.

Eventually, something comes at them from the lake!

A strange, dinosaur-like creature (http://www.ffonline.com/1_ff9en/axebeak.jpg), about three feet tall. And unlike the first monster, it can use Thunder spells. Which it does, to whichever Waltz is nearest!

That, unfortunately, happens to be Mistral, who lets out a pained squawk and then starts crying. Blaze and Arashi retaliate with a couple of fire spells, Arashi only avoiding his favored element because he guesses any creature using it is likely not weak to it.

Mistral, has retreated a bit, sobbing. He rings his bell - but as one might expect of a Waltz, it's not to summon one of the Eidolons with healing abilities. No, when too panicked and hurt to think clearly, Mistral only remembers one summons. Sealion.

The giant ice monster takes one look at the little Waltz before making a growling rumble that certainly isn't the 'noisy crushed-ice maker' purr the creature has been known to make when Mistral scritches it. No, this is not a happy Sealion. The two claw-like limbs come forward, one swinging down between the little Waltz and the Axebeak like a protective fence, the other slashing at the other monster.

The Axe Beak isn't too badly hurt by the Fire spells, but what the Sealion does to it...

Still alive though! Very wobbly, but alive. This time it aims the Thunder spell for the Sealion that just attacked it.

This gets a yelp from both the Sealion and Mistral. The Sealion vanishes and Mistral counters with Blizzard.

The other two Waltzes have taken advantage of the distraction of Sealion to work on higher level spells, a Fira from Blaze - likely not so effective a second after a Blizzard - and a Thundaga from Arashi a moment later.

Kuja is watching off to the side, quietly!

And after these three spells... the little 'dinosaur' is dead. :o

Two of the Waltzes are happy. Mistral's a sniffling little worried mess. "I-I hafta get to the Nexus. Sealion's hurt."

The other two don't like the idea of the trip being cut short. "Why can't you just bring him here and then summon Kirin or something?" suggests Blaze. He's looking for a stick to poke the Axe Beak with.

"Because he's not here, he's in the Nexus," Mistral says, perhaps not making quite as much sense as he could. "I can't summon two things at the same time."

"Hmph," Arashi refolds his wings. Stupid Mistral and his stupid pet were going to ruin the only time they've had a chance to go out and play somewhere were you could cast spells on something other than a stupid couch. "Maybe you should summon Kirin for yourself first," he says, noting the way one of Mistral's wings is hanging limp from that earlier Thunder spell.
